Training on Systematic Literature Review (SLR) and Bibliometric Analysis

Brawijaya University Library held training on Systematic Literature Review (SLR) and Bibliometric Analysis Monday, (16/10/2023). This training is intended for doctoral students at Brawijaya University (UB). This event was held in Meeting Room 1, UB Library Building, and was attended by two expert presenters, namely Mr. Ir. Hery Prayitno and Pitoyo Widhi Atmoko, S.Sc., M.Sc. This training is designed to help doctoral students understand and master important methods in scientific research, which are highly relevant to education.

Systematic Literature Review (SLR) is an important research method in the academic sphere. It is a highly systematic approach to compiling, evaluating, and synthesizing scientific literature relevant to a particular research topic. Ir. Hery Prayitno, as one of the presenters, explained how SLR is a strong foundation for developing a solid theoretical framework in research. In this training, students learn about the key steps in conducting SLR, including determining specific research questions, searching for relevant literature using scientific research databases, assessing the quality of the literature found, and organizing and synthesizing research findings.

In addition, Ir. Hery Prayitno also shared insights on how to create an effective SLR protocol, namely using PRISMA Protocol. PRISMA is useful for selecting reference sources obtained, reviewing which articles can answer the research questions that have been prepared. With this knowledge, PhD students have a strong basis for developing their research using the SLR approach.

Bibliometric Analysis Using R Studio

Pitoyo Widhi Atmoko, S.Si., M.Sc., who was the second speaker, discussed the importance of bibliometric analysis in scientific research. Bibliometric analysis is a scientific method used to study and analyze scientific publications, citations and links between them. In this training, PhD students are introduced to R Studio, which is a very useful tool for carrying out bibliometric analysis. Pitoyo Widhi Atmoko highlights the important steps in bibliometric analysis, including collecting bibliographic data, visualizing data with graphs, and identifying research trends and researcher collaboration.

This method utilizes quantitative data from scientific references to identify trends, patterns and characteristics from scientific literature. The aim of Bibliometric Analysis is to understand the development, influence and distribution of knowledge in a particular research field or topic.

With the help of R Studio, students can generate powerful insights about the literature in their field, find potential collaborators, and identify relevant trends.

This training not only provides theoretical knowledge, but also provides practical experience in the use of relevant tools and techniques. Doctoral students at Brawijaya University (UB) now have powerful tools to take big steps in their research.

Training on Systematic Literature Review (SLR) and Bibliometric Analysis using R Studio is an important step in preparing PhD students to conduct high-quality research. With guidance from two expert presenters, Ir. Hery Prayitno and Pitoyo Widhi Atmoko, S.Si., M.Sc., students have the knowledge and skills needed to master these techniques.

It is hoped that this training can help students achieve success in their research and contribute to greater scientific development for the Academic Community in particular and the world of Indonesian education in general. [UB PR/ Trans. Iir]
