The 2024 “Taking Perspective” Short Course Program, delegates from the Faculty of Law, Universitas Brawijaya (FH UB), the Faculty of Social Sciences, Jakarta State University (UNJ), and Leipzig University, Germany, visited Al-Maahira International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) Malang on Friday (13/09/2024).

The group, which arrived at around 13.00 WIB, was warmly welcomed by the musyrif and musyrifah of Al-Maahira with a saman dance performance performed by the female students. After the welcoming, the group was directed to the dormitory and classrooms of the female students to see more closely the daily life at the Islamic boarding school, then continued their visit to Al-Maahira auditorium.

The main purpose of this visit was to provide an opportunity for the delegates, both lecturers and students, to learn more deeply about the implementation of religious practices in the Islamic boarding school educational environment.

Al-Maahira IIBS Malang is an educational institution managed by the Tazkiyatun Nafsi Education Foundation. This institution focuses on education for women with an international standard curriculum and the use of English and Arabic in daily activities. Although it focuses on female students’ education, Al-Maahira also has an education program for male students.

Ustadz Al-Maahira explained, “Al-Maahira has graduated two classes with a total of 148 high school graduates, 222 junior high school graduates, and 26 Ma’had Aly graduates.” The learning facilities at this Islamic boarding school are also supported by modern facilities to support the development of the character and knowledge of the students.

The series of visits were closed with a friendly event in the auditorium attended by the ustadz, ustadzah, and santriwati. The discussion was interactive, with questions from the delegates regarding the religious practices implemented at Al-Maahira. This Islamic boarding school implements a strict and disciplined daily schedule to accustom students to behave in a disciplined manner and obey the rules.

“The visit of the delegation of lecturers and students from various universities to the Al-Maahira Islamic boarding school is an interesting activity, because not many people who go to Islamic boarding schools can see religious practices directly in the school environment,” said Zaki, one of the student delegates.

This visit activity is expected to be able to add insight and new experiences for each delegate related to religion-based education in Indonesia and enrich their academic experience. (dzilla/WDD/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
