P3AP Held Research Workshop in the Field of Academic

The Center for Academic and Professional Education Development (P3AP) under the Educational Development Institute (LPP) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) held a Research Workshop in the field of Education for Reputable Journals. This workshop invites lecturers, especially in teaching specialist to publish research results on education in journals published by P3AP, Thursday (28/7/2022).

“Today’s activity is a workshop for journals on research in the field of education. The hope is that P3AP has a journal that is accredited with sinta 3, which means that we already have a journal that is recognized by DIKTI,” said Chief Executive Prof. Dr. eng. Widya Wijayanti.

Prof. Widya said that through the workshop, the academic community was invited to produce good journal articles that were recognized by the general public.

“There are some tips or tricks for writing articles in international journals that some educators may not know. Therefore, we took the initiative to hold training which later the output could produce articles to be published in international journals,” she said.

One of the speakers from the President of The Association for Teaching as A Foreign Language in Indonesia, Prof. Utami Widiati presented material on Education Research Orientation in Post-Pandemic for Publication in International Journals.

In his presentation, Prof. Utami explained that the COVID pandemic that has hit Indonesia since 2020 has caused changes to the curriculum, teaching style or pedagogy, and its management.

She said that based on a survey she conducted online related to scientific articles covering education during a pandemic, among others, from 2020 to 2022, 60 percent of the articles or journals cited in Education raised the theme of COVID-19, while out of the top 50 articles with the theme of citing Language Education, she said, only 10 percent are related to COVID-19.

Another speaker, DR. Ani Budi Astuti In her presentation, she explained the steps of the scientific method in educational research.

The steps of the scientific method include:

Initial observations of the formulation of the problem formulation of hypothesis, research design, field research, evaluation conclusions and repeaters and report results.

Ani also explained several types of research. Viewed from the point of view of the application of the results, research can be grouped into basic and applied research. And viewed from the point of view of the process or research method can be grouped into historical research, descriptive, experimental, correlational, case action, and development.

“Some examples of qualitative research titles are Analysis of Principal Positions in Efforts to Improve Teacher Performance; Analysis of Decision Making in determining a product in terms of its brand. While quantitative research, for example, the impact of using an effective learning method in a lesson, analysis of the implementation of Counseling Guidance (BK) in SMA Negeri 1 Tuban, and so on,” he said.
