
A total of 422 new Postgraduate students of the Off-Campus Study Program (PSDKU) of Universitas Brawijaya (UB) Jakarta for the 2024/2025 Academic Year participated in the Education and Student Orientation (ORDIK) activity which took place on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the Royal Kuningan Hotel, South Jakarta. This event aims to provide an introduction to campus life to new students of the Doctoral and Masters programs.
The event was attended by a number of high-ranking officials of Universitas Brawijaya, including the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the University’s Academic Senate, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alumni and Student Entrepreneurship, Vice Chancellor for Planning, Cooperation and Internationalization, Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, and the University Secretary. In addition, Deans and Vice Deans from several faculties, including the Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics and Business, and Faculty of Administrative Sciences, were also present. This activity also involved the Heads of Study Programs (KPS) from various Doctoral and Masters programs at the Jakarta Campus.

Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, M.A.P., Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia and also Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Universitas Brawijaya, gave a public lecture on the topic “Sustainable Development and Indonesian Development Towards Golden Indonesia 2045.” Meanwhile, the Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia and also Professor of UB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Siti Nurbaya Bakar, M.Sc., also provided material on environmental management strategies towards Golden Indonesia 2045.

Prof. Drs. Gugus Irianto, MSA. PhD. Ak, Director of PSDKU Jakarta Campus, in his report stated that the number of students accepted this year reached 422 people, consisting of 81 doctoral students and 341 master’s students. “The 422 students are spread across seven study programs, with the majority from the Master of Law program,” said Prof. Gugus.

New Postgraduate Students who participated in the ORDIK activity were accepted in the Even Semester of 2023/2024 and Odd Semester of 2024/2025. The number of students accepted in the Even Semester of the 2023/2024 Academic Year consists of students from the Master of Law Program (Cooperation/ 275 people), Master of Law Program (Regular/ 7 people), Master of Notary Program (18 people), Doctoral Program in Management (12 people), Doctoral Program in Accounting (8 people), Master of Management Program (3). For the acceptance of New Students for the Odd Semester of 2024/2025, it consists of the Master of Law Program (Regular/10 people), Master of Notary Program (16 people), Doctor of Law (33 people), Doctor of Management Program (13 people), Doctor of Accounting Program (3 people), Master of Management Program (12), Doctor of Administrative Science Program (12 people).
He also added that since transforming into a PTNBH, PSDKU UB Jakarta has grown rapidly, from only having three study programs to seven study programs currently. All of these study programs have been accredited, both superior accreditation and international accreditation.
The Chancellor of Universitas Brawijaya, Prof. Widodo, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D.Med.Sc., in his remarks conveyed his welcome to all new Postgraduate students at UB Jakarta. “We opened a campus in Jakarta not to seek profit, but to find work partners,” he said, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in the development of science and technology.
“The hope is that the research will be in the fields which are daily activities and from the research it can be directly implemented in the workplace,” added Prof. Widodo.
In addition, various important materials were delivered in this ORDIK series, including academic regulations for Doctoral and Masters programs, strategies for completing studies on time, and the use of reference sources and library repositories. This activity is expected to prepare new students in their academic journey at Universitas Brawijaya and make them strategic partners is in the development of Indonesia towards the Golden Indonesia 2045.
