MMD FTP Conducts Community Service in Kaligentong Village, Tulungagung

A total of 19 students who are members of the Students Build Village (MMD) group of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Universitas Brawijaya (FTP UB) conducted community service in Kaligentong Village, Pucanglaban District, Tulungagung Regency.

The program, which started on (6/7-20/7/2024), is a flagship program of FTP which aims to improve the quality and help the community in Tulungagung area, especially Kaligentong Village.

Kaligentong Village was chosen as a place for community service because it has potential that is in accordance with the field of science of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology so that there is a lot of potential that can be developed.

Various activities were carried out by group 43 students to realize existing innovations for the village community. The activities carried out included socialization and demonstrations given to various groups of village communities such as PKK women, youth organizations, farmer groups, and Kaligentong Elementary School students. In addition, students of group 43 also actively participated in village activities such as community service, religious studies, medical examinations, and many more.

“The activities are indeed very diverse and useful, even though in a short time, but these students can convey them well, and the villagers also gain a lot of new knowledge such as waste processing,” said Mrs. Muji, one of the participants in the socialization from the PKK Women of Kaligentong Village.

In addition, a good response was also given by the head of Kaligentong Village farmer group who is often called Mbah Saijan.

“I am happy to still be involved in the activities, hopefully after this I can still maintain a good relationship with the village,” said Mbah Saijan.

The Field Supervisor Lecturer, Wike Agustin Prima Dania, STP., M.Eng., Ph.D admitted that she was proud of the activities of the younger siblings that were successfully carried out in Kaligentong Village, she hopes that this can be a place of learning for the younger siblings and can be beneficial for the village community.

With the community service activities carried out by group 43, it is hoped that it can continue to provide positive and sustainable impacts for the residents of Kaligentong Village, and can provide inspiration to many parties in community service as the efforts to improve community welfare.
