A total of 14 students from the Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Brawijaya (FILKOM UB) started the MMD (Students Build Villages) activity in Gubugklakah Village, Poncokusumo District, Malang Regency. The MMD 41 group activity which took place on (8/7-3/8/2024), carried out various innovative programs to improve the quality of life of village communities through the use of technology. The head of MMD FILKOM group 41, Alivia Putri Zuhriah, said that her group’s program purposed to create a village website that aims to provide easy public services.
“Administrative management, which can be done online without having to come to the village office. Thus, time efficiency can be achieved. The website is designed to facilitate the dissemination of information and digitize correspondence services in Gubugklakah Village. With this website, village communities can access important information quickly and efficiently. This step is expected to increase transparency and efficiency in public services in the village,” he explained.
Furthermore, in order to foster students’ creativity and raise awareness of the positive impacts of using technology, a basic education session on making PowerPoint using Canva was also held in three schools: SDN Gubugklakah 1, SDN Gubugklakah 2, and MI KH Hasyim Asya’ri. This program is designed to provide students with practical skills in making interesting and informative presentations. In addition, the MMD 41 group also helped in creating village social media accounts, especially Instagram and TikTok. These social media are used as a means of disseminating information and promoting village potential, such as ecotourism, local products, and community activities. By utilizing social media, it is hoped that it can increase the visibility of Gubugklakah village at the local and national levels, as well as encourage active community participation in various village activities. The MMD 41 group also hopes to provide direct economic benefits to local residents by creating the Gubugklakah village website.
This MMD activity not only provides direct benefits to the people of Gubugklakah Village, but also provides valuable experience for students in applying the knowledge they have gained in college. Collaboration between students and the village community in implementing these various programs shows how important the role of technology is in advancing villages and improving the quality of life of the community. With the end of MMD activities on (3/8/2024), it is hoped that the programs that have been implemented can continue and be further developed by the Gubugklakah Village community.
