UB Vice Rector III for Student Affairs, Alumni and Student Entrepreneurship, (Dr. Setiawan Noerdajasakti, SH., MH), opened the Anti-Corruption public lecture.

In the framework of the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKK-MB), Universitas Brawijaya (UB) held a National Defense Public Lecture at the Samantha Krida Building (Sakri) on Wednesday (27/9/2023). This event was attended by more than 2000 new UB students as well as several related parties, including the Vice Rector III for Student Affairs, Alumni and Student Entrepreneurship at UB, Dr. Setiawan Noerdajasakti, SH., MH., along with his staff, the Head of Banten Province High Prosecutor’s Office, who is also the Chair of UB Faculty of Law Alumni Association, along with several UB student alumni.

Dr. Setiawan Noerdajasakti welcomed this activity and explained that the Ministry of Education and Culture requires every university to provide National Defense education.

In a series of state defense education, there are important sub-activities such as anti-radicalism education, leadership, the dangers of narcotics, sexual violence and bullying, green campuses, and being wise about social media.

The aim of this activity is to equip UB New Students with important knowledge about anti-corruption attitudes.

Dr. Didik Farkhan Alisyahdi, SH., MH., who gave material at this event, said that students have an important role in helping to eradicate corruption. Students are expected to be able to understand and apply basic anti-corruption education material in their daily lives.

“Students are expected to be able and brave to take various preventive actions in their environment, as well as be able to detect corrupt behavior and provide responses, including reporting to related parties or law enforcement,” explained Didik.

In the question and answer session, Dr. Didik Farkhan Alisyahdi gave personal monetary gifts for educational assistance to 10 students who asked. This prize was given as appreciation for students’ active participation in this activity, each amounting to 5 million rupiah.

It is hoped that this Public Lecture on National Defense can become a strong foundation for New UB Students in understanding the importance of eradicating corruption and making them agents of change with integrity in society. This event is also a concrete manifestation of UB’s commitment to support the National Defense educational program mandated by the government. (WHY/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
