KKN has become a compulsory activity for FILKOM UB since it is included in the learning curriculum and is a compulsory subject,” explained Herman Tolle.

Herman Tolle who is also the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs added that this Community Service Program is a big activity because FILKOM would send its students directly to solve problems and socialize directly with the community. This year, Filkom students will also be placed in Malang Regency, which has a large area, such as Poncokusumo, East Sumbermanjing, Gedangan, Bantur and Donomulyo sub-districts.

There is something different from last year where FILKOM students and lecturers will collaborate and cooperate with students and lecturers from FEB this year. Because later this KKN will focus on economic empowerment or local product marketing. In addition, for FILKOM students the focus to be achieved is the development of technology and IT in various sectors in the targeted area, starting from the economic, education and tourism sectors.

KKN this year will start from July to August, followed by 398 students from the Information Systems Department (DSI), 365 students from the Informatics Engineering Department (DTIF) and 700 students from FEB,” said Widhy.

The hope is that by holding KKN in collaboration with FEB to explore the potential of the five KKN target districts to assist the development of the economic, education and tourism sectors as well as other potentials by prioritizing technology and IT.[drn/ Humas UB/ Trans. Iir]
