UPM Students Provide Compost Making Training at Brawijaya Smart School Elementary Students

A total of 25 students from the Faculty of Educational Studies, Universitas Putra Malaysia (UPM) held a community service activity in the form of training in making organic fertilizer in the form of compost from leaf waste for students of Brawijaya Smart School Elementary Students. This training aims to increase awareness of the importance of waste management and processing organic waste into compost that is beneficial for the environment. The activity is one part of a series of International Students Mobility programs which is a collaboration between the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Brawijaya and the Faculty of Educational Studies, UPM Malaysia which took place on (8/5/2024).

The students were very enthusiastic about participating in this training. They were taught the steps in collecting, sorting, and processing leaf waste into compost. In addition, UPM students also explained the benefits of compost for soil and plants, so that students can understand the importance of protecting the environment from an early age.

This collaboration is expected to strengthen international relations between the two universities and provide valuable experience for UPM students and BSS students. With similar activities, it is hoped that the younger generation will be more concerned about the environment and be able to apply the knowledge they have gained in their daily lives.

This event was closed with a symbolic handover of the compost that had been made to the school, as a sign of gratitude and appreciation for the active participation of all participants. (zma/OKY/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
