PWK FT-UB Students Win Gold Medal at Thailand Inventors’ Day 2025.

Students of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FT-UB) in the Urban and Regional Planning study program won the Gold Medal at Thailand Inventors’ Day 2025. The activity, which was attended by 22 countries, was organized by the National Research Council of Thailand, at Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Center, Bangkok, Thailand for a week, February 1-6, 2025.

UB delegation consisted of Rahmat Rayansha (class of 2021), M. Filzah Zulfaqar (2021), Maura Fiddini (2022), Devin Indra (2022), and Nayyara Anindya (2022). They created an innovation in the form of a GIS-based mobile application designed to improve disaster preparedness and response in Indonesia.

“This application provides real-time early warning, interactive evacuation maps, and community reporting features to improve situational awareness,” explained Rahmat Rayansha as Team Leader.

With this application, users can receive disaster notifications, access audio-visual evacuation guides, and report incidents with photos and locations. By integrating data from BMKG, BNPB, and OpenStreetMap, this application ensures accurate information. Equipped with offline access, multi-language support, it can help communities deal with disasters more effectively and improve community resilience.

Under the guidance of lecturer Fauzul Rizal Sutikno, S.T., M.T., Ph.D, and support from their alma mater, Rahmat and his team successfully went through various stages including paper selection, video presentations, posters, and final presentations, until finally winning the Gold Medal.

“We are very proud to be one of the winners in this activity. The results of months of hard work paid off when we got a medal. Of course, it cannot be separated from the support of our beloved alma mater, especially the Department of Regional and City Planning, Faculty of Engineering,” he said.

This competition was attended by 22 countries, namely Canada, China, Croatia, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Morocco, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Russia, South Korea, Taipei, Thailand, UK, and Vietnam. [Irene/ UB PR/ Trans. Iir]
