However, the current solution still has many shortcomings and is less effective in reducing the degree of pregnancy pain. Concerned about this situation, Dheri Maulana Akbar, Electrical Engineering Student (2014), Faculty of Engineering Universitas Brawijaya (FT-UB) together with his teammates,  Hanna Shobrina Iqomatul Haq (FTP ’15) and Bimo Aji Kalacakra (FPIK ’16), creates a pain therapy tool for pregnancy and childbirth, MP Relaxin.

This scientific writing which was guided by Ir Nurussa’adah MT (FT) and Vian Dedi, M.Si (FPIK) was included at the 2017 Al-Qur’an Scientific Writing Competition (LKTA). This annual event is a series of Ramadan In Campus 38 (RDK38) of Jama’ah Masjid Manarul ‘Ilmi (JMMI) Sepuluh November Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya.

Starts on April, of the 217 abstracts that entered the committee, ten finalists were chosen to present their work on June 16-18, 2017. The ten finalists are from Malang State University (UNM), University of Hasanudin (Unhas) Makassar, University of North Sumatra (USU), State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, University of Surabaya (Ubaya), UB, University of Lampung (Unila) ), ITS, and Airlangga University (Unair).

With the theme of Awakening Science Civilization and Technology Through the Qur’an, it offers five sub-themes that can be taken by participants; Health, Environment, Energy, Maritime, and Agriculture. Taking a health sub-theme, the student who also excels in the singing field creates MP Relaxin (Maternal Portable Relaxation Machine), non-pharmacological pain therapy innovation on pregnancy and childbirth based on 3+1 methods; temperature, vibration, aroma therapy, plus the Qur’an recitation.

At a temperature of 36-40 degrees Celsius this tool can relax the nerves, muscles, and blood vessels that can relieve pain. Aromatherapy on Relaxin MP can stimulate the bulbolfactory in the nose so that it gives a signal to the hypothalamus and then gives commands to the body to create a comfortable effect.

Given that everything that is created is created from water (QS 21:30), the reading of the Qur’an can change the structure of water molecules, and 70% of the human element is water, MP Relaxin is completed by the recitation of the Qur’an (QS Al-Faatihah, Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, An-Nas, and Al-Hashr verses 21-24). The recitation of the Qur’an, which is believed to have a frequency in the air, will vibrate the eardrum, converted into electromagnetic waves which then give orders to the brain in order to neutralize the pain in the body.

This is in harmony with Allah’s explanation in QS Maryam 22-23 that mentions that Maryam when giving birth also experienced a very unusual pain. In the weak state Maryam was commanded by Gabriel to go into seclusion, until she retreated under a palm tree. Of course this historical Al-Qur’an is directly proportional to the evolving reality in the current era.

In Tafsir Ibn Kathir also said that Gabriel called Muhammad SAW to always recite dzikrullah in the morning to keep up to evening, and at evening to keep up until morning. The Qur’an recitation can also kill deadly cells, Abd Kadir Al-Kahiil says in his Healing Sufi book. According to QS. Al-isra verse 82 states that the word syifaa which Allah refers to in Al-Qur’an can be used as medicine for all illnesses, either spiritual or physical disease.

With that result MP Relaxin managed to set aside eight other universities and won 1st place. The second and third place are UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta and the host, ITS.

“All human needs are regulated in the Qur’an, we must be good at utilizing it. Alhamdulillah this time with that knowledge we can contribute to society and alma mater in particular. We are also very grateful to meet new friends, sharing experiences and knowledge,” Dheri said proudly. (mic)
