The delegation of Universitas Brawijaya (UB) succeeded in winning 2nd Runner-Up in the PROTECT Annual International Petroleum Integrated Event which was held in collaboration with HMTM (Petroleum Engineering Student Association) SPRUDA, with PT. Pertamina, Pertamina EP and SKK Migas at the end of May 2024. This event was held at Pertamina University, as well as the culminating gala dinner at the Menara Peninsula Hotel, West Jakarta.
UB delegation consisted of 3 students, namely Aditya Bayu Pratama (FT), Calya Rahmanata Deyasari Putri (FT), and Meta Ayu Fitria Dewi (FT) who designed a CCUS system using blooming microalgae (spirulina sp.) to enhance oil recovery and biofuel production with high purity that is integrated with cyber physical systems.
Correlated with current conditions, namely an increase in carbon emissions, so smart CCUS is really needed, one of the potentials found in the microalgae spirulina sp. This system is expected to reduce microalgae bloom waste caused by environmental eutrophication, as well as increase the potential for renewable energy utilization in Indonesia, especially in the oil and gas industrial sector. In addition, the oil produced will go through a refining process thereby creating better quality products with higher levels.
“We hope that the system we have designed can be realized by the Government through stakeholder collaboration, because from a technological and business economic perspective, the profits obtained are quite large with sustainable business continuity. From a technological perspective, the entire system operation is controlled using a cyber physical system, so it does not require a stable signal to access it,” said Aditya Bayu Pratama.
The Petroleum Integrated Event is a renewable energy event that provides various kinds of competitions that are directly related to field applications such as business cases, drilling fluid design, petroleum study cases, and many more. This competition was held in an integrated event with International Petrowell 2024 and Well Integrity 2024. Armed with the concept, preparation and evaluation that had been carried out, UB delegation succeeded in winning 2nd Runner-Up in the PPC Category at the PROTECT 2023 event. (*/OKY/UB PR/ Trans, Iir)
