Industrial Engineering Students Conduct Factory Visit to Amerta Indah Otsuka

Students of the Industrial Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FT UB) conducted an industrial visit or factory visit to PT Amerta Indah Otsuka, the producer of Pocari Sweat drinks, on Wednesday (12/2/2025). This activity aims to provide students with direct insight into the production process and industrial management at one of the leading companies in Indonesia.

This factory visit was attended by around 90 students along with two accompanying lecturers, namely, Ir. Bambang Indrayadi, MT and Ir. Suluh Elman Swara, ST., MT. The group was warmly welcomed by company representatives who then gave an explanation about the profile of PT Amerta Indah Otsuka, production systems, and the application of technology in the manufacturing process.

During this visit, students had the opportunity to see firsthand the production process of Pocari Sweat drinks, from the initial stage to the product being ready for distribution. In addition, they also gained insight into the concepts of lean manufacturing, quality control, and sustainability implemented by the company.

One of the accompanying lecturers, Suluh also expressed his appreciation for PT Amerta Indah Otsuka which has provided an opportunity for students to learn directly from the industry.

“We hope that activities like this can continue to be carried out so that students gain real experience that can support their readiness in the world of work,” he said.

He also added that the factory visit activity was intended to provide provisions and insight into the world of work and industry to Industrial Engineering Students of FT UB as a forum to compare the theories that have been obtained during lectures with the reality that will be found in the company by seeing firsthand the process of activities in the industry.

“Through this activity, we hope that students will have the opportunity to see for themselves how the production process takes place, interact with experts in their fields, and understand the various challenges faced by the industry today,” he added.

This factory visit ended with an interactive question and answer session between students and the Company and a group photo session. With this activity, students are expected to be able to better understand industrial processes and develop their insights in the field of industrial engineering. [drn]
