The Students Build Village (MMD) Universitas Brawijaya Group 10 created a reading corner and conducted socialization of waste sorting at Sidodadi 1 Elementary School, Lawang District, Malang Regency, Thursday (07/18/2024)
The UB MMD Team Group 10 along with the Field Supervisor (DPL), namely Susilowati, S. Sos,. M.AB., coordinated together regarding the work program that will be implemented for one month. One of them is the work program for creating a reading corner.
According to one of the students, the SDN 1 Sidodadi library collapsed due to extreme weather and aging buildings. As a result, the library cannot be used.
Susilowati said that this activity was part of a series of programs from the 2024 UB Students Build Villages (MMD). The creation of a reading corner was carried out at Sidodadi 1 Elementary School as a solution to the collapsed school library.
In addition, the program to create a reading corner is in line with other work programs, namely increasing literacy which was carried out earlier. Literacy improvement activities were carried out in two classes, namely classes 3A and 3B.
This activity took place lively, because the students of group 10 MMD UB were actively involved with the students, especially in reading thematic books that contained moral messages in them, such as having to be honest, responsible children, etc.
Through the work program of creating a reading corner by group 10 MMD UB, it is hoped that it can support learning and increase literacy for students, especially at SDN 1 Sidodadi.
Meanwhile, the socialization activity for waste sorting at SDN 1 Sidodadi targeted students in classes 5A and 5B which was also carried out on the same day on Thursday (18/07/2024).
The waste sorting socialization activity at SDN 1 Sidodadi aims to increase awareness of environmental concerns from an early age.
No less lively, the waste sorting socialization activity was welcomed positively and enthusiastically by students in grades 5A and 5B.
Students in grades 5A and 5B were invited to gather in the field and divided into a total of four groups. Each group was given a name, namely Organic A, Organic B, Inorganic A, and Inorganic B. After that, the four groups were given education about the differences between organic and inorganic waste along with the types of organic and inorganic waste.
No less interesting, the waste sorting socialization activity was also carried out by decorating trash bins according to the theme given by students from group 10 of MMD UB.
With this MMD group 10 program, it is hoped that children of Elementary School 1 Sidodadi can improve literacy from an early age to realize the golden generation in Indonesia. (Agil/Oky/Fathy/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
