Student of Communication Science of Universitas Brawijaya, Jesica Maranatha Virgin, has again achieved an achievement in the 2024 East Java Language Ambassador event as the 1st Winner on April 29, 2024.
Jesica admitted that the 2024 East Java Language Ambassador event was different from the previous events she participated in since she had to study language and be critical about it.
“I think what needs to be prepared is material, theory, or readings about language and literature. Of course, prepare yourself mentally because you will definitely meet other participants from regencies and cities in East Java,” she said regarding the preparations she made.
In the program carried out by the East Java Provincial Language Center, Jesica initiated the Language Student Movement (Gema Bahasa) in echoing the trigatra of language development. The movement was aimed at students because they often found spelling errors that did not comply with EYD, both in proposals and accountability reports.
“From there, I made a book, a guidebook called Buku Saku Gema Bahasa. Well, the book can be a reference or guide for friends so that they can use good and correct Indonesian, especially in organizational life,” she explained.
Jesica also said that she did not expect to win the title as the first winner.
“Since I have tried this event twice and in the first event I was failed. Then I tried again and it turned out that God allowed me to be the first winner. So when I was on stage, I really cried, I didn’t expect it and of course I was also proud because later I would represent East Java at the national level,” she said.
In addition, Jesica also explained that this event is open to all students regardless of their study program.
“So we have to be confident in our potential and abilities wherever we are and whatever platform we choose to develop.
