Student of Communication Science Chosen as the East Java Investment Ambassador

The 2020 Student of  Communication Science, Wieke Wijayanti, won the title of Best 2 Investment Ambassador for East Java 2022, which was announced on September 14, 2022.

The East Java Investment Ambassador is the only Investment Ambassador in Indonesia under the East Java One Stop Integrated Service and Investment Service (DPMPTSP).

To the Public Relations of FISIP, Wieke explained the process of selecting the East Java Investment Ambassador which she had been doing since the registration process. Participants are required to register via Instagram by uploading videos about the potential of their respective regions which must use English.

After that, there is a knockout system from video selection and administration. From the top 40 selected, then in Surabaya, they made a live presentation in front of the judges. After the knockout system, 16 finalists joined the quarantine.

“Let’s flashback first in the selection of Malang Regency Tourism Ambassador, Joko Roro Malang Regency, in 2021 I got an investment attribute title, so I immediately collaborated with DPMPTSP, so I was immediately covered by the relevant OTP. Because I got the investment degree, I had to go to East Java, so it started like that,” she said, Tuesday (11/8/2022).

Before participating in the selection process, Wieke prepared a video provided by the Malang Regency DPMPTSP about investment plans in Malang Regency. Wieke also went to Mount Bromo Tour to see the potential, activities, projects that have the potential to attract investors. In addition, she is also mentored by senior tourism ambassadors who have participated in the same event to deliver presentations.

Wieke admitted that the selection process to become an East Java Investment Ambassador was not easy. One of them is the judging process. Because the participants are required to be able to directly answer the question and answer session on the spot.

“There is an interesting story, so actually a rundown was sent which should have been material, but instead it was a Focus Group Discussion (FGD), then the score was taken in the FGD at that time. The more interesting is that on the pageant we will get a list of questions for the Q&A session a few hours before the question and answer. If the investment ambassador is on stage, they will only be asked questions and the system will be different,” she said.

The challenge, according to Wieke, was during the question and answer session, she was the last participant. So that the other finalists could watch as Wieke straightforwardly answered questions from the judges, one of which was given by the wife of the East Java Deputy Governor, Arumi Bachsin.

After being selected as the Best 2 Investment Ambassador for East Java, Wieke will help make presentations in front of investors when there are foreign investment plans for domestic investors for the East Java region.

“Personally, I will focus on how to manage social media, how to increase DPMPTSP Instagram engagement,” she concluded. (Uli/Humas FISIP/Humas UB/ Trans. Iir)
