The Real Work Lecture (KKN) Program of the Faculty of Agriculture (FP) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) successfully implemented the PKm Collaboration of FP UB Lecturers with the title “Getting to Know Environmental Services from Non-Timber Forest Products in Banturejo Village, Malang to Increase Awareness of the Importance of Environmental Conservation” by Arif Delviawan, S.Hut., M.Agr., Ph.D as Field Supervisor I. The activity was enthusiastically welcomed by Banturejo Village apparatus, Youth Organization and the local farmer group association (Gapoktan).
The series of activities on Tuesday (23/7) included the delivering of material by Arif Delviawan, with the aim of increasing the understanding and awareness of the surrounding community about the importance of environmental conservation and the benefits of managing non-timber forest products (NTFPs) as well as their types in Banturejo Village. In order to realize these goals, 3 work programs were developed initiated by Forestry Study Program Students, FP UB in collaboration with field supervisors in the form of Optimization of the Economic Value of Pine Flower and Leaf Litter (Pinus merkusii) with the Production of Biopesticide Products and Marketing Through E-Commerce with the output of teaching aids, pocket books, e-commerce accounts, biopesticide products, logo designs; Mapping and Development of HHBK Potential with Banturejo Village Website with the output of a distribution map of HHBK potential in Banturejo Village, Development of the Banturejo village website, Real Work Lecture (KKN) Website FP UB Banturejo Village, HHBK Potential Module based on the results of inventory and identification; and Bamboo Preservation Strategy through Planting in Banturejo Village and Utilization of Bamboo Leaf Litter Through Composting to Increase Soil Fertility with the output of packaging design, logo design, flyers, products, e-commerce accounts, and infrastructure.
“We hope that through these activities, all of you, especially those working in agriculture, can further increase the productivity and quality of agricultural products in the future. In addition, you also mapped the distribution of potential forest products that can be utilized by all of us other than wood. Well, if the natural resources in this village are utilized optimally, it is hoped that the community will be more prosperous.” Welcomed by the Secretary of Banturejo Village, Yenta Melia
“The knowledge that has been conveyed earlier, I as the last participant, we can accept, can find out what I do not understand, so I understand. Therefore, we are in accordance with the hopes of the village government here, hopefully for the future if it happens that Universitas Brawijaya which is doing KKN in Banturejo Village can provide knowledge that we did not know before and has never been conveyed at the similar event,” said Winardi as one of the participants.
The implementation of this collaborative activity is part of FP UB’s efforts to contribute to the development of village communities through the transfer of knowledge and technology.
