FK Students Achieve the Most Third Place of RMO

Six pairs of students from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya, won the title of Champion in the Regional Medical Olympiad competition. This prestigious medical olympics was organized by the Indonesian Medical Student Senate Association Region 4, and was attended by all medical students from East Java to Papua, on 11-16 July 2022.

This year’s Regional Medical Olympiad competed in six competitions, namely Digestive, Urogenital, Neuropsychiatric, Musculoskeletal, Cardiorespiratory and Tropical Infections. These six pairs of students are Ammar Nojaid and Nurlinah Amalia who won third place in the digestive field, Gustav Dasa Sitompul and Qonita Qur’ani who won third place in the Urogenital field, Faresa Aulia R and Aurellie Annalisia S with third place in neuropsychiatry, Maura Maharani and Steven Verdian who won third place in the Musculoskeletal field, Muhammad Yususf and Ivena Leonita who won third place in the Cardiorespiratory field and Didi Setya Dharma and Krisanto Tanjaya who became Semifinalists in the Tropical Infectious field. In this competition, the delegation from the Faculty of Medicine brought home five bronze medals, after going through the preliminary round to the final.

The team’s preparation, according to Nuruliah, has been carried out since last April. “The Medical Education Student Association holds a mentoring club, the mentor is a senior who is also RMO alumnus. Then the selection at the end of May is to determine the participants with the highest scores of 1 and 2 to be made into a team,” explained the 2019 student.

The delegates that have been formed from each branch, said Nuruliah, also get assistance from the supervising lecturer and facilitated by the faculty. There were 35 registered supervisors for the participants. “Actually, UB’s delegation is expected to become the general champion because during the preliminary, semi-final and even final SOCA PH, we always occupy the top rank. However, we fell in the Right Fast competition because we are used to analyzing questions for a long time, so that it becomes our evaluation material for IMO preparation later, “she added.

Furthermore, next October, FK students will also take part in the Indonesian International Medical Olympiad in Surabaya. “Please pray for us to bring home a medal,” she concluded. (VQ/ Humas UB/ Trans. Iir)
