The Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Brawijaya (FILKOM UB) together with the Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research Osaka University (ISIR), Japan signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on (11/9/2024). This agreement will involve collaboration between the Intelligent Systems Laboratory, FILKOM UB and the Intelligent Media Laboratory, Osaka University. In the signing of this MoA, FILKOM UB was represented by Dr. Eng. Novanto Yudistira, S.Kom., M.Sc. as the head of the Intelligent Systems Laboratory, FILKOM UB, accompanied by Sabriansyah Rizqika Akbar, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D, as the Head of the Computer Science Study Program, Dr. Ir. and Candra Dewi, S.Kom, M.Sc. At the signing of the MoA, Osaka University was represented by Professor Yasushi Yagi, as the head of the Intelligent Media Laboratory at ISIR, and Professor Shun’ichi Kuroda, Director of ISIR also attended the event.
ISIR which is also known as SANKEN Osaka University, has a major role in research and development of science and technology relevant to industry. Yudis said that in this MoA, FILKOM UB master program students will later have the opportunity to conduct joint research in Osaka, with accommodation costs covered by Osaka University. The joint research period of FILKOM UB students in Osaka is not limited by time but usually can be 3 months, 6 months and 1 year.
“This collaboration is expected to strengthen academic and research relations between FILKOM UB and Osaka University. FILKOM UB’s commitment is to consistently provide the best quality of education,” explained Yudis.
In the activity that lasted for seven days, research discussions related to multimodal artificial intelligence, computer vision, deep learning, generative ai and biometrics also involved Associate Professor, Tomoya Nakamura and Assistant Professor, Shuqiong Wu. Previously, research collaboration between the two institutions was carried out in May 2024 to explore collaboration in the context of (Quacquarelli Symonds) QS 100. (rr/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
