Group 16 of Community Service (PKM) of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Brawijaya (FH UB) held a socialization activity at State Elementary School (SDN) 1 Palaan on July 16-17, 2024. This activity aims to provide education to students regarding the prevention of narcotics, psychotropics, and addictive substances (NAPZA) and bullying, as well as providing motivation to achieve goals.
On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, the material presented included prevention of narcotics and psychotropic substances for students in grades 5 and 6. All students from grades 1 to 6 received material on how to achieve their dreams. The students seemed enthusiastic to listen to the material interspersed with various interesting games. They took turns telling their dream professions and the reasons for choosing them. PKM participants from Group 16 acted as mentors, motivating students to study as high as possible, at least to a bachelor’s degree, and providing insight into the level of education after graduating from elementary school. At the end of the first day’s activities, students worked on assessments and filled out questionnaires regarding impressions and messages on sticky notes prepared by PKM participants.
On the second day, Wednesday, July 17, 2024, the activity was carried out outdoors by visiting a tourist destination in Palaan Village, namely Kampoeng Nanas Tourism. Kampoeng Nanas Tourism offers the experience of seeing pineapple plantations, food courts, and playgrounds for children. In the beautiful atmosphere of Palaan Hamlet, PKM participants, students, and educators from Palaan 1 Elementary School walked across the rice fields until they arrived at their destination. Moderator, Ahmad Zidna Hilmy guided the event, with speakers Elang Satria Dewangga and Berliana Sinaga delivering the material “Stop Bullying” to all students. The atmosphere became fun with games and prizes for students who were able to answer questions.
Students were then asked to give their impressions and messages about the series of events for two days. Citra, a 5th grade student, gave her impressions in front of the forum, “My friends and I are very happy with the arrival of the KKN seniors; a term often used in community service,” she said enthusiastically, “I can learn a lot and the seniors are kind, especially Sister Mira.”
The formation of the FH Teaching work program is a form of Group 16’s concern for the nation’s next generation so that they can move towards the Golden Indonesia 2045. This work program is also an implementation of SDGs 16, namely community service. “My hope is that this work program is not only beneficial for the students of Palaan 1 Elementary School, but also for us participants of Community Service which adds experience and problem solving skills when there are obstacles in teaching and then what solutions are provided,” said Echa, Coordinator of Dusun Palaan Group 16.
With the end of FH Teaching work program, it is hoped that students of Palaan 1 Elementary School can have a better understanding of the dangers of drugs and bullying, and be motivated to achieve their dreams. (dzilla/wdd/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
