M-Care Wins Gold Medal of ITEX 2023

Mental health not only has an impact on the quality of one’s life, but also has an impact on his social environment. Public awareness of the importance of mental health in the community has increased, although there are still deficiencies in mental health services in Indonesia, such as mental health workers to the provision of adequate and affordable mental health services for all levels of society.

Departing from this concern, five students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya released M-CARE, an application that can provide mental health services to be more adequate. This idea was initiated by Janu Andrean, Faris Idan Auliarahman, Clarissa Hundreda Arifi, SA Bashkaran Adi Warman, Kevin Lowenchris and Michale Kevin, who were guided by Dr. Femiana Gapsari, M.F. S.T., M.T.

According to Muhammad Dary Alfyanto as Chair of the Machine Student Association, FT UB, M-Care seeks to bridge mental health with an increase in awareness of mental health. “In fact, at this time public awareness of the importance of mental health is still very far from good words. So that our application will help in solving health problems, “said.

In addition, this team not only targets people who need mental health services, but also the general public. “The hope is to help educate the community regarding the importance of maintaining mental health,” he added.

  Although still in the concept stage, M-Care is currently in the process of developing programs to provide telecommunications, tests and psychological quizzes, education and others. “The purpose of this research is to develop Machine Learning -based applications around psychology and psychiatry to support mental health issues in the international scope,” he explained.

From this idea, UB student team was able to win a gold medal in the World Young Inventors Exhibition 2023 in Malaysia on May 11-13, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center.
