The Institute for Research and Community Service, Brawijaya University (LPPM UB) has successfully held the “OJS 2 to OJS 3 Workshop & UB IRCS Journal Strengthening Consignment” which took place for two days on (22/9 – 23/9/2023), at the Aston Inn, Batu. This event is a progressive step taken by UB IRCS to increase the capacity and ability of their journal managers.

This workshop was attended by a number of journal managers, researchers and academic practitioners who are committed to improving the quality and competitiveness of journals at Brawijaya University. Workshop participants gain an in-depth understanding of the differences between OJS version 2 and version 3, as well as practical learning in implementing OJS version 3 in journal management.

Prof. Luchman Hakim, S.Sc., M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D, Head of UB IRCS, said he was very grateful to be able to hold this workshop, which is expected to improve the ability of our journal managers to present high quality journals. Through a better understanding of OJS version 3 and collaboration in consignment, we believe our journals will increasingly become valuable reference sources in the world of research.

This event received positive responses from participants who felt they were helped in overcoming challenges in managing academic journals. They hope that workshops like this can continue to be held in the future to support improving the quality of research and scientific publications at Brawijaya University.

Not only discussing the technicalities of moving data from OJS 2 to OJS 3, but also reviewing various new features that can support better journal management. Participants also received practical guidance on how to optimize the use of OJS 3 to manage scientific journals effectively.

This workshop aims to introduce and facilitate the use of the latest version of Open Journal Systems (OJS), OJS 3, to journal managers at UB IRCS. OJS 3 is a more sophisticated and more efficient journal management platform, which will help journal managers manage, edit and publish scientific papers more easily and effectively.

IRCS currently has 4 journals managed. And IRCS is committed to improving the quality of these journals to become journals of international reputation:
