LP3M Held Training to Improve the PLP Competence

LP3M Held Basic Competency Training of PLP

The Center for Education Management Development (P2MP), Institute for Educational Development and Quality Assurance, Universitas Brawijaya (LP3M-UB) held a Basic Competency Training for Educational Laboratory Staff (PLP). This online training was held for two days, Wednesday-Thursday (25-26 / 11/2020). This activity was attended by PLP and laboratory assistants who will become PLP candidates.

The Chair of P2MP Prof. Dr. Ir. Hartutik, MP., IPU., ASEAN Eng., conveyed that this activity was aimed at improving the basic competence of laboratory assistants who mostly came from various educational backgrounds.

“It is expected that in the future, UB will have more and more laboratory staff that fulfill the competency as a basis for participating in the national level PLP achievement competition. Since we have difficulty so far in finding those who meet the requirements even though some of the laboratory assistants already have competence, but they do not yet have a PLP functional position. That has been an obstacle in the implementation of Achieved Education Staff, “said Prof. Hartutik.

Meanwhile, the Head of LP3M Ir. Achmad Wicaksono, M.Eng., Ph.D in his speech conveyed that the need of PLP is in line with the increasing number of students, study programs, and laboratories. More than that, as an educational institution that must prioritize services to customers, the need for PLP is a necessity that we must fulfill.

“When students do practicum or research, if the number of laboratory assistants is limited, they have to wait, so that the research will be delayed and it will affect on the lack of excellent service in UB,” he said.
