The speaker at this event was Pitoyo Widhi Atmoko, S.Si,. M.Si and Ir. Heri Prayitno, with Gabriel Wahyu Purnomo, S.AP., MM, as moderator who guided the event. The material presented involves various key aspects, such as EduVPN UB for accessing UB E-Resources collection from outside UB network, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in research, reference management using Mendeley, scite.ai and academic writing strategies using tools such as Publish or Perish.

Pitoyo Widhi Atmoko, an expert in the field of artificial intelligence and information technology, was the first speaker at the Library Class event. The material he presented focused on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the world of research. One of the aspects raised was the use of Chat GPT as a tool to support the process of writing and analyzing data. This discussion provides in-depth insight into how AI technology can be practically integrated into research activities, providing concrete examples using Chat GPT.

On the other hand, Ir. Heri Prayitno was the second speaker who discussed various tools to support daily academic activities. One of the main aspects explained is the use of UB’s EduVPN which helps the UB academic community to access all UB E-Resources collections while outside the UB network. Next, the discussion involves Mendeley, a reference management tool that makes it easier to manage literary sources. Ir. Heri Prayitno also discussed scite.ai, a platform that helps researchers evaluate the reliability and quality of information sources. Finally, he reviews Publish or Perish, an important tool in academic writing strategies, allowing researchers to track the impact and number of citations to their scientific work. By presenting these various tools, the second speaker provided a comprehensive view of technology and platforms that can support the success of lecturers’ academic activities of Brawijaya University.

One of the participants, Gabryna Auliya Nugroho, lecturer from the Faculty of Agriculture, expressed her impression related to the material presented.

“The material presented was regarding the use of Chat GPT, Scite.ai and Publish of Perish so that lecturers can write faster than conventional methods. Moreover, in this training, lecturers are given free access to the training so they can practice directly on their laptops,” she said.

Gabryna considered the speaker’s performance to be very impressive.

“Mr. Pitoyo and Mr. Heri really master the details of the writing process using various apps. In addition, the presenters have prepared files that can be downloaded and prompts to make it easier to find written material, so that participants find it easier to understand this training”. she added.

Furthermore, Gabryna also provided suggestions for further Library Class activities. “I hope that for future training, every lecturer who takes part can be given a free account to access these applications and add iThenticate apps training to perfect writing,” she added.

This Library Class activity ended with a question and answer session which full of enthusiasm from the participants. UB Library hopes that this activity can continue to make a positive contribution in improving the quality of research and writing of lecturers in UB. (*/OKY/UB PR/ Trans. Iir).
