On Sunday, February 23, 2025, the Nordic Walking Community of Malang (Kojanorma) at the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet-UB), held a Nordic Walking exercise (Janor) at the Futsal Court of the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Indonesian Nordic Walking Community (KJNI) for East Java, the Chairman of Kojanorma, as well as representatives from Nordic Ranting Srikandi and Nordic Fapet-UB. In addition to being a sports event, this activity aimed to promote health and fitness among the academic community of Universitas Brawijaya, particularly at the Faculty of Animal Science, and to strengthen synergy among Nordic Walking communities within the campus. Nordic Walking is well known for its numerous benefits, including improving endurance, strengthening muscles, and maintaining joint health.
The event commenced with an opening by the host, followed by speeches from several key officials. The Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya, Prof. M. Halim Natsir, expressed his appreciation for the successful organization of the event and reaffirmed the faculty’s commitment to supporting activities that promote the well-being of the academic community. “The purpose of this Nordic Walking exercise is to support the health and fitness of the Brawijaya academic community, especially at the Faculty of Animal Science. I strongly support activities that are beneficial to the health of faculty members, staff, and the extended family of the Faculty of Animal Science,” he stated.
Speeches were also delivered by the Chairman of Kojanorma, Mr. Catur Mulyono, SE, and the Chairman of KJNI for East Java, Dr. Dr. Koernia Swa Oetomo, SpB (K) (Dr. Onny). Both emphasized the importance of maintaining physical fitness through regular exercise, particularly Nordic Walking, which has been proven to enhance endurance, strengthen both upper and lower body muscles, and reduce the risk of injury by preserving joint health.
Following the speeches, the event continued with a warm-up session led by Dr. Onny. Participants enthusiastically followed the warm-up movements as preparation before starting the Nordic Walking session. The excitement heightened with the “One Way Ticket” and “Katresnan” aerobic sessions, guided by Mrs. Hari and the Nordic Ranting Srikandi team. The dynamic movements and energetic music rhythm boosted the participants’ enthusiasm before beginning the Nordic Walking session.
The highlight of the event was the Nordic Walking session, which was divided into two route options. The long route was led by Mr. Agus Budiarto, while the short route was guided by Mr. Hary Nugroho. Throughout the journey, participants enjoyed the morning atmosphere on the UB campus while maintaining proper Nordic Walking formation and techniques. This activity not only provided benefits for cardiovascular health but also helped improve body balance and coordination. Several stops were designated as photo locations, including the UB fountain roundabout and in front of the Rectorate Building.
As a token of appreciation for their participation and contributions to this event, the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya, presented a token of appreciation to Dr. Onny and Mr. Catur. This gesture symbolized recognition of their support and collaboration in promoting sports activities within the Faculty of Animal Science, UB.
The 2025 Nordic Walking Exercise at Fapet-UB was not merely a sports activity but also an opportunity to strengthen bonds among the academic community. With its numerous health benefits, such as boosting endurance, strengthening muscles, and maintaining joint health, it is hoped that this activity will continue and become a positive tradition within the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya.
