Visit to Sekolah Indonesia Jeddah: Bachelor’s Program in Educational Administration Conducts International Community Service under DOKAR Initiative

The Bachelor’s Program in Educational Administration, Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Universitas Brawijaya (FIA UB), conducted a visit to Sekolah Indonesia Jeddah (SIJ), Saudi Arabia. This visit was part of an International Community Service activity funded by the “Dosen Berkarya (DOKAR)” grant. The community service team included Dr. Bambang Santoso Haryono, M.S., Dr. Abd. Qadir Muslim, M.Pd., Drs. Sukanto, M.Si., and Aulia Luqman Aziz, S.S., S.Pd., M.Pd., accompanied by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Entrepreneurship of FIA UB, Dr. Mochamad Rozikin, M.AP. At SIJ, the delegation was warmly welcomed by the Acting Head of SIJ, Bambang Hariyanto, S.Si., M.Pd., along with the school’s leadership and teaching staff.
In conveying the purpose of the visit to SIJ, Dr. Rozikin expressed his gratitude to SIJ for welcoming the FIA UB delegation on a regular school day. This visit was an opportunity for both teams to exchange knowledge and experiences regarding the management of Indonesian schools abroad and the challenges they face. Dr. Rozikin also stated that FIA UB is ready to partner with SIJ to enhance the capacity of its teachers in institutional management. “We have mostly partnered with Indonesian schools within the country, but we have not yet understood how Indonesian schools are managed overseas, like SIJ. We hope to gain insights that we can share with our students in the classroom,” said Dr. Rozikin.
Bambang Hariyanto also expressed his pleasure in receiving the FIA UB community service team at SIJ. He hoped that the long journey undertaken by the team would result in fruitful collaboration with FIA UB lecturers. SIJ, he added, requires support from national universities to continuously improve the services provided to its students, most of whom are Indonesian citizens. “We manage everything from kindergarten to high school, which is a major task. Therefore, we would be delighted to collaborate with universities to improve our school management. We also welcome any FIA UB students who are interested in interning with us,” he explained.
The community service event concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between FIA UB and SIJ. The agreement includes community service programs for FIA UB lecturers, internship opportunities for students, and other academic activities.
