The Children Center Brawijaya Smart School (CC BSS) Playgroup, Universitas Brawijaya, made an educational visit to the Compost Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of the Faculty of Agriculture (FP) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) to introduce the process of making compost organic fertilizer to students from Kindergarten (TK), Playgroup, to CC BSS Child Care Park (TPA) level.
During this visit, Tanggon Wibowo, S.P., as manager of UPT Kompos FP UB, provided a detailed explanation and description of the process of making organic compost fertilizer. This process starts from collecting dry leaves which are organic waste in Universitas Brawijaya environment until it become ready-to-use compost that can be marketed.
The young students seemed very enthusiastic and enjoyed listening to the explanations given. They also had the opportunity to see firsthand each stage of compost making. This activity not only provides new insight for children about the importance of processing organic waste, but also fosters a sense of love for the environment from an early age.
This visit is part of UB Faculty of Agriculture’s efforts to support the use of university facilities as learning facilities for all levels of education. Through this activity, it is hoped that CC BSS students can understand the importance of waste management and the benefits of using organic fertilizer for the environment. (zma/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
