The Universitas Brawijaya (UB) Library received a visit from Insan Permata Integrated Islamic Junior High School (IT) Malang City to introduce the concept of a digital library and foster a spirit of literacy among students. A total of 75 students and 10 accompanying teachers attended the activity which took place in Meeting Room 1, UB Library Building, 1st Floor, Friday (3/1/2025)
The event began with an introductory session between the two parties. The Field Coordinators from UB Library warmly welcomed the group, while also providing information regarding the facilities, collections, and superior services owned by UB Library. In the remarks, UB Library conveyed the importance of digital literacy in the modern era as a provision for the younger generation.
After the introductory session, it was continued with a sharing session. In this session, students were given the opportunity to ask questions and discuss information technology, library digitalization, and how to access scientific literature. This interactive discussion provided new insights for students regarding the wider world of literacy.
The next event was a library tour. Students were invited to tour around to see firsthand the various book collections, facilities, and services at UB Library. In this tour, students were introduced to the physical library collections, digital services, and study zones designed to support visitor comfort.
As part of the visit, the accompanying teacher gave students an assignment to create a resume based on the books they chose from UB Library collection. This assignment is expected to improve students’ understanding while practicing their literacy skills.
Rubiati, S.Psi, Deputy Principal of the Infrastructure Division, expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome and learning opportunities provided by UB Library. “This activity is very useful for fostering a spirit of literacy and providing students with direct experience regarding the use of digital libraries,” she said.
Through this visit, it is hoped that the good relationship between UB Library and educational institutions in Malang can continue to be established, while inspiring the younger generation to be more active in the world of literacy. (IHWN/UB PR/ Trans. Iir).
