The Faculty of Computer Science Universitas Brawijaya in collaboration with PT. Sumber Cipta Multiniaga conducted a guest lecture entitled Cracking The Coding Interview which was filled by GDP Labs. This activity was carried out online on Tuesday (2/3/2021) through Zoom because it is still in a Covid-19 pandemic situation. The number of participants in this guest lecture was around 160 participants which was attended by FILKOM students and alumni consisting of FILKOM alumni and from other faculties from Universitas Brawijaya.
In the first material delivered by Stefanus Christofan as a Senior Software Development Engineer, explaining career development for students and alumni. Stefanus provides input for students to have the right experience, whether it is obtained from project classes, internship programs, as well as being a laboratory assistant or lecturer.
Because from this experience students will be better prepared to enter the world of work. Before graduating, Stefanus also conveyed that students should be more active in looking for companies that open internship vacancies. Because the internship program will explain a lot about the preparation for recruitment or employee acceptance tests from the company.
Entering the second material by Sahat Nicholas Simangunsong as Principal Software Development Engineer, conveyed technical matters in the test and recruitment of company employees. Sahat gave input to students and alumni that the context of questions or questions given by IT companies was more or often used as questions about Complexity Big O.
In addition, it is hoped that students will be more aware of the material and questions during the interview. The steps that need to be remembered are the first to listen well to the questions given, then note on a piece of paper the questions, do them calmly and finally present and implement.
The purpose of holding this guest lecture activity is to develop good cooperation between FILKOM academic community and other faculties as well as with the organizers, also conducting knowledge-sharing as well as introducing the industrial world to students and alumni who need information on career opportunities and internships. It is hoped that the results of this activity are students and alumni of FILKOM or from other faculties to be able to develop knowledge about IT industry as well as information on recruitment opportunities for work and internships.
