The Consortium of Faculties of Engineering from 5 State Universities to Support Independent Learning, Independent Campus

The Rector of Universitas Brawijaya (UB), Prof. Dr. Ir. Nuhfil Hanani AR., MS signed a cooperation agreement (MoU) with four State Universities (PTN) online on Monday (14/09/2020), which was witnessed by the Director General of Higher Education. The signing of this cooperation paper was held at the Launching of the Consortium of Faculty of Engineeing from five State Universities in the framework of Independent Learning Independent Campus. The five State Univesities consisting of UB, Udayana University, Hasanuddin University, North Sumatra University, Mulawarman University agreed to cooperate in student exchange for the Faculty of Engineering.

The Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture Prof. Ir. Nizam, M.Sc., DIC., PhD., IPM., ASEAN Eng said, with this consortium, it is hoped that students of the Faculty of Engineering across universities can work together, especially in the field of technology for the glory of the Indonesian nation.

“Similar programs have been carried out a lot in the European Union where each student is required to study for one year in another EU member country. Besides strengthening science, this program can also foster a sense of nationalism for EU students. In Indonesia today, as we know medical devices and others are still imported. It needs to be studied and found a solution. One of them is by this student exchange program, “he explained.

Nizam hopes that this collaboration will not stop at student exchange, but it can be developed and work together in other fields can be builded.

The UB Rector welcomes this cooperation. “An independent campus and an independent learning cannot run without cooperation. The exchange of FT students between five State Universities is a strategic step to improve student human resources and build collaboration between universities. What has been pioneered by FT is good, and UB is ready to continue with the cooperation of other faculties, “said Nuhfil.

The professor of the Faculty of Agriculture added that UB is ready to cooperate in other fields such as research activities, quality assurance, lecturer activities, and other fields to improve the quality and competitiveness of higher education.

After signing the MoU manuscript, it was followed by the signing of the Cooperation Agreement between the FT Deans of the five universities, where FT UB was signed directly by the Dean of FT, Prof. Dr. Ir. Pitojo Tri Juwono, MT., IPU. [Irene/ Humas Ub/ Trans. Iir]
