MMD FILKOM Commitment in Kasembon Village to Preserve the Environment

The Students Build Village (MMD) Program, Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Brawijaya (FILKOM UB) demonstrated its commitment to preserve the environment through a tree planting activity held on Monday (29/07/2024). In collaboration with PT. Petrokimia Gresik, this MMD program is combined with the annual Tetenger Bumi activity held at Kasembon Village Central Park, Kasembon District, Malang Regency, East Java. PT. Petrokimia Gresik, which also supports this activity as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) or Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL), provides 1320 tree seedlings consisting of various types of seedlings, such as Mundu, Water Apple, Sapodilla, Cinnamon, Matoa and others. These seedlings are ready to be planted at the points provided by the Kasembon village apparatus.

In his speech, the Dean of FILKOM UB, Prof. Ir. Wayan Firdaus Mahmudy, S.Si., M.T., Ph.D., said that FILKOM UB consistently provides real examples with an active role in preserving the environment.

“FILKOM tries wholeheartedly to help so that CSR funds are distributed for environmental preservation activities, because this is a long-term interest, for children, grandchildren and the next generation. FILKOM UB has consistently done this for the past few years and also in the future. We also always include a message to maintain sustainability in FILKOM’s routine activities, both in dies natalis or anniversary and also MMD activities like this.”

Assistant Vice President of PT. Petrokimia Putra Gersik Soraya Anggun, S.E., CSRS expressed her gratitude to FILKOM for inviting her to participate in environmental preservation activities.

“Preserving nature is also a form of worship and PT. Petrokimia Gresik is very concerned with environmental sustainability issues. We are very happy to be part of this positive activity with FILKOM UB.”.

Nurhadi Santoso, S.Pd., as the Head of Kasembon Village also greatly appreciated the real contribution of MMD FILKOM UB in environmental preservation. He also expressed his gratitude for the positive programs that have been implemented in Kasembon village.

On this occasion, the head of Tetenger Bumi UB, Dr. Tibyani also expressed his gratitude, because the young Z generation, in this case the Entrepreneurship group (KWU) 02 and 08 MMD FILKOM UB, also played a role in controlling climate change and reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions.

“It is very important to invite the young generation, because the young Z generation has an interest. They are highly curious, highly sensitive, and their response to a problem is also high. This activity is also to foster togetherness or get closer to nature.”

Narendra Habibullah Adicandra as the village coordinator of the KWU 02 MMD FILKOM group, said that the planting of tree seedlings was also carried out together with KWU 08 and Kasembon village apparatus.

“Because of the extreme climate change that is currently occurring accompanied by environmental changes, we hope that planting tree seedlings can help reduce air pollution and produce oxygen. Thank you to friends and also to those who have helped in implementing this seedling planting activity,” he said. (rr/OKY/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
