UB Rector’s Cooperation Commitment in the East Java State University Rectors Association Working Meeting

The East Java State University Rectors Association Working Meeting held at the University of Jember recently discussed important issues related to State University revenues between Public Service Agencies (BLU) and Legal Entity State Universities (PTNBH).

The event was attended by Rectors and Vice Rectors from various state universities in East Java. In this working meeting, participants discussed the differences and challenges faced by PTN with BLU and PTNBH status in managing their revenues and finances.

One of the main issues discussed was how PTN with BLU status often faces limitations in terms of flexibility in managing funds compared to PTNBH. On the other hand, PTNBH has greater freedom in managing finances but also faces its own challenges in securing sustainable sources of income.

On that occasion, the Rector of Universitas Brawijaya (UB), Prof. Widodo, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D.Med.Sc. expressed his commitment to support the creation of better synergy between State Universities in East Java. “Universitas Brawijaya is committed to continuing to collaborate with other State Universities in finding innovative and sustainable solutions to increase revenue and financial management. We believe that through close cooperation, we can achieve our common goal of advancing higher education in East Java,” said Widodo.

The meeting participants agreed to form a working team that will study these issues in more depth and prepare policy recommendations that will be submitted to the central government. The goal is to create a more supportive financial ecosystem for all PTNs in East Java, both those with BLU and PTNBH status.

As the host, the Chancellor of the University of Jember, Dr. Ir. Iwan Taruna, M.Eng, IPM., stated that this meeting is very important to align perceptions and find the best solution for increasing revenue and financial management in each State Universities. “We hope that through this discussion, we can find strategic steps to increase revenue and maximize the use of funds in each university,” said Iwan Taruna.

With this working meeting, it is hoped that all State Universities in East Java can synergize and support each other in efforts to improve the quality of higher education in this region. (UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
