Research and Scientific Work of Universitas Brawijaya (RKIM UB) students participated in the Open Ideas Challenge (OIC) Catalyst Changemakers Ecosystem (CCE) 3.0 program with GoTo Impact Foundation. This program, which will take place during May-June 2024, invites individuals from various backgrounds to contribute innovative ideas in overcoming problems in four selected locations: Belitung, Central Lombok, Magelang and Malang.
RKIM UB was selected as one of the implementing partners after being assessed as meeting the main qualifications, namely focus on scientific fields, extensive network, and good publication history. This offer of cooperation was followed by intensive discussions and introductions to OIC.
“When we accepted this offer for collaboration, we saw a great opportunity to contribute and were ready to give our best to realize innovative ideas to bring real change,” said La Tazkia Aulia Wibowo, Director of RKIM UB 2024.
For two months, RKIM UB was involved in disseminating and publishing innovative ideas. The RKIM UB team, consisting of members of BPI, BPH, and young staff, has prepared a program for empowering local communities, developing environmentally friendly technology, and improving the quality of education.
“For example, to stimulate the local economy, we propose a Citizen Empowerment and Unemployment Reduction Platform through Tourism Villages, Revitalization of Traditional Markets, development of sustainable transportation, Map Applications for People with Disabilities in Malang City, and so on,” explained La Tazkia.
These ideas were conveyed by 90 RKIM members in text form by explaining why the idea was suitable for solving a problem by looking at field conditions, socio-culture and existing local potential.
This collaboration system allows RKIM UB to work together with GoTo in achieving predetermined goals, with the opportunity to get reward levels based on achievement.
The areas that will receive a direct impact from this program are Belitung, Central Lombok, Magelang and Malang. These four areas were chosen because of the urgency of the problems that require innovative solutions.
With this collaboration, RKIM UB and GoTo Impact Foundation are committed to creating real change that has a positive impact on society, showing the active role of the younger generation in presenting innovative solutions for Indonesia. [Hilya/Irene/ UB PR/ Trans. Iir]
