The Community Service Team (PENGMAS) of the Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Brawijaya (FILKOM UB), chaired by Dr. Eng. Budi Darma Setiawan, S.Kom., M.Cs., consisting of Putra Pandu Adikara, S.Kom., M.Kom., Dr. Eng. Irawati Nurmala Sari, S.Kom., M.Sc., and Tirana Noor Fatyanosa, S.Kom., M.Kom., Ph.D. held community service together with the Republic of Indonesia Teacher Education University (PGRI) Wiranegara, Pasuruan, on Saturday (5/25/2024). The seminar and training activities via ZOOM were themed “Optimization of Machine Learning and Deep Learning Based on Artificial Intelligence”.
The seminar was attended by around 80 participants consisting of students, lecturers, and practitioners from various fields. In this seminar, the main material was presented about machine learning, and hyper parameter optimization methods. Budi said that in machine learning, algorithm development focuses on deep learning techniques and the application of models to various problems. For hyper parameter optimization helps determine the best combination of hyper parameters that can improve model accuracy and performance.
“Knowledge of machine learning can be applied to various sectors, such as health, finance, marketing, and information technology, to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Expertise in machine learning is also highly sought after in today’s job market, providing broad career opportunities and high earning potential. While understanding hyper parameter optimization aims to find the best combination of model parameters, thereby improving the accuracy and performance of the model as a whole. If associated with the risk of overfitting and underfitting, then we can set hyper parameters correctly, the model can be better at generalizing to new data,” said Budi.
At the end of the seminar, direct practice was also held using Google Collab and the Python programming language. In addition, this event was also filled with question and answer sessions, pretests and posttests to assess the success of its implementation.
This seminar and training is expected to provide comprehensive insight into optimization techniques in machine learning and deep learning.
