Students of KKN MMD (Students Build Villages) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) 2024 with Field Supervisor Dr. Candra Dewi, S.Kom., M.Sc., proposed a program related to the Establishment of a Legally Aware Village to Banjarsari Village Government, Selorejo District, Blitar Regency. This activity is also aligned with the Strategic Community Service program of Universitas Brawijaya for the Banjarsari village area which is chaired by Dr. Candra Dewi, S.Kom., M.Sc. from the Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Brawijaya and involves several other lecturers, namely Dr. Dra. from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Dr. Mohammad Nuh S.IP., M.Sc. from the Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Mohamad Rifan, S.H., M.H from the Faculty of Law.
Banjarsari Village Government is very enthusiastic about welcoming the proposed program since the Legal Awareness Group (Kadarkum) has not been formed in Banjarsari Village. This is due to the lack of knowledge of the Banjarsari Village community regarding legal knowledge so that the Village Government hopes that the Establishment of the Legal Awareness Group initiated by the community service program and MMD UB can increase the knowledge and initiation of Banjarsari Village community regarding the law.
“When talking about legal awareness, I am sure that all Banjarsari people are aware. But again, regarding unawareness, do these people not know the law or are pretending not to know the law,” said the Head of Kalilegi Hamlet, Banjarsari Village, Muhaimin, Monday (15/7/2024).
In addition, socialization related to the settlement of litigation law was also carried out by MMD Banjarsari, chaired by Muhammad Andre Nurdiansah and Mohamad Rifan, S.H., M.H which took place at the Banjarsari village hall. With this activity, it is hoped that there will be an increase in public knowledge regarding the resolution of legal problems and legal awareness.
Legal awareness will be reflected in the level of public compliance with the law, which is the key in creating a safe and orderly national and state life as one of the steps to realize the goals of sustainable village development, namely Peaceful and Just Villages and supporting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely Dynamic village institutions and adaptive village culture. The higher the legal awareness of a country, the more orderly its social and state life will be.
The Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration (Kemendes PDTT) warmly welcomes the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) Program regarding Legally Aware Villages/Sub-Districts.
Since 2022, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) has begun to actively socialize the Establishment of Legally Aware Villages/Sub-Districts. Through this program, the government also wants to instill that legal awareness is a responsibility borne by all elements in society and not just as “homework” for law enforcement officers alone. The establishment of Legally Aware Villages/Sub-Districts is one of the joint steps to strengthen Indonesia’s status as a country of law as mandated by Article 1 paragraph (3) of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia.
