FP UB KKN Implements Sustainable Agriculture Through Integrated Pest Control Socialization

Students of the Real Work Lecture Program (KKN) of the Faculty of Agriculture (FP) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) conducted socialization related to Integrated Pest Control (IPM). This activity was attended by Field Supervisors (DPL), namely Prof. Dr. Ir. Abdul Latief Abadi, Ms. And Dr. Irisa Trianti, S.P., M.P, MSc. As speakers and attended by the Farmer Group Association (Gapoktan) of Tosari Village, Tosari District, Pasuruan Regency, on Saturday (20/7).

Integrated Pest Control is one of the movements towards healthier agriculture. Because this control technique prioritizes the use of organic materials as an option to control pest and disease attacks. This movement is very beneficial for the sustainability of an agricultural ecosystem.

“Here, many plants are attacked by pests and diseases, especially in the rainy season, pests that often attack are a type of phytoptora and most farmers still rely on chemical pesticide products with very high spraying intensity to control them.” said Jenni as the head of Tosari Village Farmers Group.

This effort is an initiative of FP UB students to provide education to farmers about pest control with an environmentally friendly system, through the implementation of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) it is hoped that farmers can still overcome pest and disease attacks that occur in agricultural land in Tosari Village without causing damage to agricultural land.

“Integrated Pest Control is a movement to eradicate pests and diseases that are environmentally friendly, through the implementation of IPM, it is hoped that farmers in Tosari Village can reduce their dependence on the use of chemical pesticides so that the ecosystem of an agricultural land can still continue,” said Abdul Latief Abadi as the speaker on the work program.
