Universitas Brawijaya (UB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France. The signing of this memorandum of understanding was held on Wednesday (07/06/2023), in the Rector’s building, Universitas Brawijaya.
The signing was carried out directly by the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Internationalization, Andi Kurniawan, S.Pi., M.Eng., D.Sc., and Hamamah, Ph.D as the Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Studies. Acting as UPHF representatives include Professor Abdelhakim Artiba as the Rector, Professor El Hadj Dogheche as UPHF advisor in Indonesia, Cécile Garçon as international cooperation representative and Sandra Vivier as Director of the Indonesian Français Institute Surabaya.
According to Andi, this collaboration can be a forum for scientific development between the two parties. “Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France is that they were originally polytechnics and then developed an interdisciplinary science combining science and social sciences and from there they spawned innovations. UB itself has the same challenge. Therefore, in addition to developing double degrees and joint degrees with them for French literature, we will also develop collaborative research and laboratory development,” he said.
From this collaboration, both UB and UPHF plan to create a joint lab with several other campuses in Indonesia. “And we offer that UB is ready to join, even part of the rector’s program which is supported by our international office will allocate special funds. We hope that the MOU that was previously signed, followed by the signing of the MOA today, can really develop education in UB and laboratory processes to create innovations,” he added.
This collaboration was also welcomed by the Faculty of Cultural Studies. “In the Faculty of Cultural Studies there is a French language and literature study program and this study program is the only one in East Java so UPHF then initiated a double degree at the undergraduate level,” concluded Hamamah as the Dean.
