The implementation of the Computer-Based Written Examination (UTBK) at Universitas Brawijaya (UB) for ten days (23/04-03/05/2025) was greeted enthusiastically by all groups. Not only prospective students were present, many parents and families also accompanied their loved ones in carrying out this UTBK. It can be seen from all along the road and the gazebos in several UB faculties are filled with companions of prospective students.
Sandi Sismanto, one of the parents of a prospective student who took the UTBK, accompanied his child to welcome the next level of education. “My child who took the UTBK is my first child, my eldest child,” he explained, Thursday (24/04/2025).
Sandi explained that he took a break from his freelance work so that he could take his son to take the exam in the morning session. They arrived at the location two hours before the UTBK started. Sandi’s son had been preparing for the UTBK implementation for several months.
“The preparation was tutoring. I saw it as a bit pitiful. My son is very motivated to enter UB, so it’s like there’s no rest because he really wants to enter UB,” said Sandi.
He said that his son is aiming for the Architecture or English Literature majors. He hopes that his son can be accepted according to his dreams. “We never force him to go anywhere, but if it is possible, just stay at Malang City. So, the hope is that he can be accepted at UB according to his wishes,” concluded Sandi.
Not only Sandi, Dedi Joko Hermawan also accompanied his younger brother to carry out the UTBK which took place at the Faculty of Law (FH) UB Building. Both of them, who come from Jombang, chose UB as the place to carry out the UTBK according to their younger brother’s wishes.
“Alhamdulillah, the trip from Jombang went smoothly, the weather was also sunny. We arrived yesterday afternoon and stayed overnight in Malang,” said Dedi.
Dedi and his brother had surveyed the UTBK location since two days before the implementation. He explained, “We came here first to check the exam location. Yesterday we already knew the building, but we were not allowed to enter the room because it was sterilized. As long as we already know the building, InshaAllah it will be true,” he said.
In addition, he expressed his appreciation for the facilities at UB for the participants waiting. “UB’s facilities are comfortable, nice, and also complete for companions who are waiting, but because it was sterilized, there were several canteens that were closed so if you want to find food you have to leave UB,” answered Dedi when asked about UB’s facilities.
Apart from all that, he hopes that his brother who is aiming for the Entrepreneurship or Management major at UB can carry out the UTBK smoothly, be able to answer the questions given, and also be able to achieve his dream of entering UB. [ema/aik/UB PR/ Trans. Iir]
