Group 30 of Students Build Villages (MMD) Universitas Brawijaya conducted a tree planting action with the Village Government and Watugede Singosari residents. Taking place in Krajan Hamlet RW 08 Tourism Village, the event was a form of collaboration between several elements, namely the MMD 30 Group, the Government and Community of Watugede Village and UB Forest.
The theme carried in this activity was the Development of Watugede Tourism Village Through the Tree Planting Program as a form of “District Care about the environment” in an Effort to Support FOLU Net Sink 2030 and Improve Sustainable Village Ecotourism.
The activity is a manifestation of Village SDGs point 15, namely Village Care for the Land Environment to Support government programs related to the environment through the FOLU Net Sink 2030 policy, increasing sustainable Watugede Village tourism and raising public awareness in protecting the environment through District Care About the Environment.
Watugede Village Official, Yudi Purwono, expressed his pride in this activity, because this activity is very good for supporting the development of village tourism, so that in the future similar activities can be carried out sustainably, the trees that have been planted hopefully grow well until they bear fruit later, so that the fruit can be enjoyed by residents and sold to support the economy of the community around the Village tourism in particular and all Watugede residents in general.
This tree planting action is an important step to restore, maintain, and improve the condition of the natural environment so that it remains productive and functions well, as a regulator of water flow and as an environmental protector. Tree planting can also add aesthetic value as a basis for tourism development.
In addition to playing a role in the tourism sector, tree planting activities are also an effort to support the steps of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia, namely Forestry and other land use (FOLU) Net Sink 2030 as a step to mitigate climate change, improve environmental quality, rehabilitate forest land and efforts to increase public understanding related to environmental and forestry development programs, especially in tree planting activities. Through this strategy, it is hoped that Indonesia’s vision can be achieved, namely Net Zero Emissions by 2060. (*/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
