The group 57 of Students Build Village (MMD) Universitas Brawijaya, accompanied by Field Supervisor (DPL), Mokhamad Nur, STP, M.Sc., Ph.D., made an important initiative to increase the potential and welfare of Olak Alen Village located in Selorejo District, Blitar Regency, East Java.
The MMD group 57 held a workshop entitled “Empower Olak Alen: Workshop for Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Innovation”. The theme of this workshop is “Efforts to Strengthen the Village Economy through the Formation of New Entrepreneurs and Empowerment of Livestock-Based Businesses with the Utilization of E-commerce, Packaging Design, and Halal Certification”.
This activity is part of a series of MMD Group 57 work programs designed to strengthen the economy of Olak Alen Village in a sustainable manner.
The majority of Olak Alen Village community work as farmers and livestock breeders. With this workshop, it is hoped that it can provide a significant contribution in advancing the local economy and empowering livestock-based businesses through various innovative approaches.
This workshop took place on Saturday, (13/7/2024), at Olak Alen Village Hall Office, and was attended by various elements of society, including village officials, BUMDes, PKK mothers, and the general public.
The activity began with a presentation of the results of the questionnaire that had been distributed previously, regarding the preferences and interests of Olak Alen community in local dairy cow milk products, such as yogurt and ice cream. Furthermore, material regarding the design of a production house and recommendations for machinery that are suitable for the business of processing milk into yogurt and ice cream was presented.
The next session continued with training and live demonstrations on the process of making yogurt and ice cream. Workshop participants were given the opportunity to be directly involved in the manufacturing process, including pouring ingredients and stirring the processed products. High enthusiasm was seen from the participants who took turns interacting and participating in this process.
After the practical session, the committee distributed samples of yogurt and ice cream that had been made. Participants can directly try the processed dairy cow milk produced by the MMD 57 Group. The provision of this product is not only a form of appreciation, but also as proof that the results of this training have great potential to be developed in the future.
The series of activities continued with business feasibility analysis training using analytical framework tools such as SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats), making Business Model Canvas (BMC), and making proposals and financial reports. In addition, participants also received materials related to marketing strategies through e-commerce and social media, as well as assistance in creating accounts and installing products online on the Tiktok and Tiktok Shop applications. Other materials include the importance of good packaging design for the added value of products to be sold, as well as submission of halal certification and business permits.
