The Undergraduate Accounting Study Program from the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Brawijaya (FEB UB) and the Department of Accounting, Faculty of Business and Economics, Universiti Malaya (UM) held a joint discussion on curriculum development (Joint Curriculum Development) to develop and align the accounting education curriculum between the two universities and share best practices in developing study programs, Friday (18/10/2024) at Universiti Malaya. This activity is an implementation of the DOKAR (Lecturer Works) program of Universitas Brawijaya in 2024.
This discussion was attended by a team from the Department of Accounting, FEB UB led by Dr. Sari Atmini, accompanied by the Head of the Undergraduate Accounting Study Program, Dr. Arum Prastiwi, and a number of lecturers from the program. Meanwhile, from Universiti Malaya, Prof. Mohd Zulkhairi bin Mustapha, as Head of Bachelor Program at the Faculty of Business and Economics UM, along with his academic team.
The main discussion included the initiation of the possibility of implementing a student exchange program as part of the student mobility program between the two parties. This activity is part of the achievement of the Main Performance Indicators (IKU) of Universitas Brawijaya. In addition, other objectives of this curriculum discussion are to improve student competency, strengthen the link and match between education and industry, and innovation in technology-based teaching methods.
Dr. Sari Atmini said that this discussion is a strategic step to strengthen cross-country academic collaboration in the field of accounting.
“We hope that this activity can have a positive impact on the development of a curriculum that is more adaptive to the needs of the global market and expand the network of international cooperation in the field of education,” he said.
Meanwhile, Prof. Mohd Zulkhairi bin Mustapha from Universiti Malaya added that this collaboration will encourage the improvement of the quality of accounting graduates, while preparing them to face professional challenges in the digital economy era.
The discussion that took place with full spirit and enthusiasm is expected to be the beginning of a broader collaboration in the future, including student exchange programs, joint research, and curriculum development that is more integrated with global needs. (*/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
