Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) held the First International Conference on Language, Literature, Education, and Culture (ICOLLEC) online through the Zoom platform and YouTube Streaming on Saturday and Sunday, October 9 – 10, 2021. ICOLLEC is an academic forum to convey various scientific, critical, and practical ideas by facilitating interdisciplinary dialogue in the fields of humanities, education, and the arts.
Through this forum, the FCS UB would like to contribute significantly to strengthening the academic tradition of building a research culture and networks among researchers, academics, students, and practitioners. Focusing on the humanities, education, and the arts, this conference is expected to respond to various current issues interwoven with the dynamics of humans’ lives and environment. In addition to being a meeting for dialectics of ideas, this conference also encourages presenters and participants to resolve varying cultural problems.
With the theme “The Dynamics of Language, Literature, Education, Art, and Culture of a Changing Society in The Age of Disruption”, ICOLLEC 2021 is on a mission to encourage the emergence of ideas and research that explores various cutting-edge phenomena. This mission is based on the stance that science must evolve and adapt to the demands of innovations needed by society.
“This online conference will give participants a platform to exchange ideas, discover opportunities, meet new friends, and broaden their knowledge although we are now amid the Covid Pandemic,” said Prof. Dr. Agus Suman, SE., DEA., the Dean of FCS UB.
ICOLLEC 2021 offers over 50 ideas, including the ones presented by keynote speakers during the plenary sessions, and by the presenters and participants from five countries during the parallel sessions. The six keynote speakers included Prof. Dr. Sharmani Patricia Gabriel (Universiti Malaya, Malaysia), Prof. Hisanori Kato (Chuo University, Japan), Prof. Hsueh-Hua Chuang (National Sun Yat-sen University, Taiwan), Prof. Dr. Bernard Arps (Leiden University, Netherlands), Dr. Dag Yngvensson (University of Nottingham, Malaysia), and Dr. Hipolitus Kristoforus Kewuel (Universitas Brawijaya, Indonesia).
This occasion also facilitates the publication of various articles after some review processes. This scientific meeting will document the academic artifacts that scientists have inscribed by providing more opportunities for publication in proceedings and journals. Furthermore, publishing various ideas and research findings presented in this forum is expected to cultivate feedbacks and further research from the public. [DTS]
