Malang, October 29, 2024 — Lecturers from the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya (UB), have embarked on an innovative research collaboration with Talitha Fata Farm, a SAPERA goat farm managed by Mr. Triwit Wahyu Karyono. This partnership aims to develop management practices, improve milk quality, and enhance the production of SAPERA goats, a crossbreed between Saanen and Etawa goats.
The research will involve a team of lecturers and students from the Faculty of Animal Science, UB, who will work directly at Talitha Fata Farm. The research coordinator, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tri Eko Susilorini, MP., explained, “This collaboration is crucial for the development of SAPERA goats in Indonesia. Through a scientific approach, we hope to optimize the potential of the goats at Talitha Fata Farm while providing practical training for farmers to improve their goat management standards.”
Mr. Triwit Wahyu Karyono, the owner of Talitha Fata Farm, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration. “We are very excited to work with Universitas Brawijaya. With their expertise, we are optimistic about improving the quality and productivity of the SAPERA goats on our farm. Hopefully, this can serve as a valuable model for other farmers,” he said.
This collaboration is part of the Faculty of Animal Science UB’s commitment to fulfilling the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in the aspects of research and community service. The results of this research will later be disseminated through training sessions and seminars, enabling farmers in other regions to apply the findings to improve domestic dairy goat production.
It is hoped that this research will create new approaches to support the national livestock industry, particularly in strengthening the supply of high-quality local goat milk. The Faculty of Animal Science UB also hopes that this collaboration will be a stepping stone toward sustainable livestock development and greater competitiveness in both domestic and international markets. team/mtn
