Gastric Cancer Detection Innovation Wins Gold Medal in International Event

AG-ex (Advanced Gastric Cancer Smart Endoscopy Based Detector) an innovation for Gastric Cancer detection from students of the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya, Won a Gold Medal in the field of Innovation science at the Youth International Science Fair which was held in Bali, on Sunday, March 12 2023 yesterday.

This achievement that should be proud of, was made again by 3 students who collaborated across faculties where the team consisted of Dhaffin Rayhzan Ferdian (Medical Study Program/ 2022), Nur Farid Fadjar (Electrical Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya /202) and Andreas Sober Sinaga (Electrical Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya / 2021) under the guidance of the Engineering lecturer, Prof. Dr. Ir. Rini Nur Hasanah, ST., M.Sc., IPM.

Dhaffin said that, AG-ex (Advanced Gastric Cancer Smart Endoscopy Based Detector) itself is an innovative GIT (Gastrointestinal Tract) endoscope that can detect gastric cancer cells with the help of the Internet of Things and the implementation of Artificial Intelligence using the Machine learning method with deep learning principles, he insisted.

According to him, this tool was created to determine dysplasia or abnormal cells in the lumen of the stomach. With the help of Fiber Optic, image capture can be taken which is then followed by the image segmentation process.

The FKUB Medical student further added, We hope that this innovation can be implemented in society in the future. In addition, this innovation will also receive awards and invitations as an Indonesian delegation by the government of Tunisia in 2024, he hopes (An4k/Humas UB/ Trans. Iir)
