The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) received a visit from SMAN 1 Megamendung Bogor on Thursday (2/13/2024).
Taking place at the Nuswantara Auditorium, Building B, 7th floor, this event was attended by around 130 students and accompanying teachers who were enthusiastic about getting to know the world of lectures at UB better.
In his remarks, the Deputy Principal for Facilities and Infrastructure of SMAN 1 Megamendung, Dadang Kustiawan, S.Pd hoped that this visit would provide new insights for students about campus life, especially at FISIP UB, which is known as one of the leading faculties.
The students received a presentation from Muhammad Irfan Anshori, S.I.Kom., Public Relations of FISIP UB, who explained the advantages of this faculty, including its achievement in the world’s top 500 in the social sciences category according to QS and being the faculty with the most IISMA (Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards) scholarship recipients at UB in 2024, with a total of 27 students.
This session further raised the students’ enthusiasm to continue their education at UB.
Amidst this enthusiasm, one of the students, Manda Amelia Khasanah, appeared full of confidence when she expressed her desire to enter the Political Science Study Program.
Manda said that her interest in political science began with her attention to various government policies that she read in the mass media.
She was moved by current issues, especially those related to education and health in Indonesia.
“Like recently, education and health have suddenly ceased to be the main priorities in Indonesia,” said Manda
For Manda, Political Science is not just a major, but a gateway to the big changes that she wants to bring to the nation.
“I want to understand how policies are made and how government decisions can have a direct impact on people’s lives,” she said enthusiastically.
According to her, policies that are less favorable to education and health are real examples of how politics affects the future of the nation.
Manda believes that by studying Political Science, she can be part of a generation that brings change.
She wants to fight for fairer policies and stimulate public awareness to the importance of involvement in politics.
“I want to contribute, not only as an observer, but as someone who can drive change,” she added.
With full confidence, Manda believes that FISIP UB is not just an option, but the first step towards a big dream to build the country. (FISIP PR/ UB PR/ Trans. Iir).
