The Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque: Strengthening the Spirit of Moderation in the Frame of Diversity

Universitas Brawijaya held Tabligh Akbar at Raden Patah Mosque, Thursday (22/9/2022). The activities carried out by the Center for Religious Development (PPA), Takmir of Raden Patah Mosque UB, Student Unit of Raden Patah Mosque (UMAR) and Tahfidz Al-Qur’an Center (PTQ) were attended by the entire academic community, leaders, lecturers, employees and students packed the Raden Mosque was broken.

Present as a lecturer at the Tabligh Akabar this time was Prof. KH Nasaruddin Umar who currently has the task of being the Grand Imam of the Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta.

UB Rector, Prof. Widodo, S.Si., M.Si.,PhD said that it is very important at this time to build and maintain the concept of diversity due to background, culture, ethnicity and religion, so it is very necessary to be tolerant and moderate.

“UB needs to continue to maintain a tolerant attitude towards each other. Science should not be trapped in something that is intolerant. Various diversity and differences need to be respected in order to establish harmony in the life of the nation and state,” said the Rector.

Prof. KH Nasaruddin Umar said that humans are commanded to glorify each other. Glorifying others and glorifying creatures. This is a form of human being as a noble being.

He added that another characteristic of humans as noble beings is to prioritize dialogue.

“Nowadays, apart from dialogue, tolerance is also very much needed. Indonesia, which consists of various backgrounds and diversity, really needs this.
