Nuzulul Qur’an is one of the moments that is always memorable for Muslims, where the commemoration of Al-Qur’an revelation to the Prophet Muhammad SAW falls on the 17th night of the month of Ramadan. By commemorating Nuzulul Qur’an, everything contained in the Qur’an will be a guide for anyone when implementing Islamic values in their daily lives. Not only by reading, but also by appreciating and practicing it widely so that blessings always accompany every step of the human being, whether when they receive a test or abundant fortune.
Prof. Dr. Unti Ludigdo SE, MSi, Ak as the Vice Rector for Research and Innovation, Brawijaya University (UB) revealed that currently some Muslim communities still do not pay attention to the meaning contained in the Al-Quran, they still only believe in it physically, just own it, yet not everyone carries out his true guidelines as a light in the world. “The wisdom of the Nuzulul Quran commemoration is to invite all Muslims to maintain the existence of the Al-Qur’an not only physically, but also how we can have a strong and never-broken bond with the Al-Qur’an through our actions and syi’ar towards the path God,” he said.
Currently, University of Brawijaya (UB) community is here with a commitment to create a Qur’anic life through religious activities in the campus environment, one of which is the Al-Qur’an tahfidz center initiated by the administrators of UB Raden Fatah mosque. This activity has contributed to the development of academics/students who are able to memorize Al-Qur’an every year. Of course, UB also hopes that in the future they will also become an example in living the Qur’anic life in the world of education, both on campus and in the wider community.
Meanwhile, in Tabligh Akbar entitled “Analizing the Character of Integrity in the Al-Quran”, Habib Achmad Jamal Bin Thoha Ba’agil said that Al-Quran was revealed through important events as a warning and guidance, hence the connection between Al-Qur’an and the month of Ramadan cannot be separated. The current phase is commemorating the event through the words of Allah which means “And We have sent down the Al-Quran gradually so that you read it slowly to people and We have revealed it part by part.” (Q.S. Al Isra:[17]:106). Therefore, fasting in the month of Ramadan along with reading Al-Quran is a special practice of worship that leads humans to glory, starting from reading it, studying the interpretations of each of its letters, to reciting it over and over again. This can be a motivation so that Muslims continue to get used to reading Al-Qur’an and play a role in practicing it, where the Prophet Muhammad SAW once said that “Fasting and the Al-Qur’an are two things that will provide intercession for the servants of Allah in yaumul qiyamah”.
