The Master Program in Social Sciences, Universitas Brawijaya provides tips so that our writings can qualify for journals through an activity entitled “How to Publish in Reputable International Journals” which was held online on Monday (22/11/2021).
In this activity, the presenters also came from the University of Malaya, Bambang Sumintono Ph.D.
Bambang Sumintono said writers should choose journals that don’t have to pay anymore.
“We don’t have to pay for journal publications since 90 percent of accredited journals are actually free. Keep our own name,” he said.
Several tips were revealed in this agenda. First, the author does not need to finish the journal article first, but map out which journal will be the target and know technical things such as the template used in the journal.
Next is to check for plagiarism personally before being checked by the journal team that we are referring to. Another tip is to collaborate to increase our knowledge, for example about the linguistic aspect to the research method that will be proposed.
One that is also important is to check the track record of the journal to be addressed whether it is a predator or another form.
“Absolutely avoid paid journals,” said Bambang Sumintono.
In this event organized by Master of Social Sciences UB, the speaker also gave an example of evaluating a journal article, especially in the aspect of plagiarism and evaluation of abstract writing. (aim/Humas FISIP/ Humas UB/ Trans. Iir)
