The Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Brawijaya (FT UB) officially inaugurated Prof. Dr.Eng. Ir. Yulvi Zaika, ST, MT as a Professor in a formal ceremony held at the Samantha Krida Building on Thursday, December 19, 2024. This appointment makes Prof. Yulvi Zaika the 30th active Professor in FT UB and the 226th at Universitas Brawijaya.
Prof. Yulvi Zaika’s professorship was granted based on the Decree of the Indonesian Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Number 95541/M/07/2024, regarding the Promotion of Academic Positions for Lecturers, dated October 17, 2024.
In her inaugural speech, Prof. Yulvi Zaika introduced a groundbreaking civil engineering innovation called the Geosynthetic-encased Geofoam Recycle Concrete Column (GEGRCC). This technology is designed for soft soil reinforcement by combining geosynthetics, geofoam, and recycled concrete to create a sustainable, eco-friendly construction solution.
The GEGRCC technology offers a novel approach in the construction sector, emphasizing efficiency and sustainability. The use of recycled concrete reduces reliance on new materials, while geosynthetics provide additional strength to support loads on soft soil.
“GEGRCC is the first step toward more sustainable construction. I hope this technology can be widely applied and become a global solution in addressing environmental challenges,” said Prof. Yulvi Zaika.
As a newly inaugurated Professor, Prof. Yulvi Zaika is committed to advancing research that aligns with sustainable development goals. Through innovations like GEGRCC, she aims to create a positive impact in the fields of construction and environmental sustainability.
Congratulations to Prof. Dr.Eng. Ir. Yulvi Zaika, ST, MT, on her inauguration as Professor. May her innovations further strengthen Universitas Brawijaya’s position in research and technology!
