Going Digital as UB’s Spirit

Brawijaya University Malang is holding The 2023 Brawijaya International Conference (BIC) with the theme Going Digital: Embracing Future Trends In Strengthening Society, Thursday – Friday (19-20/10/2023) in Lombok. BIC is carried out as one of the work programs of UB Vice Dean 1 Academic Affairs forum and is also a series of activities for the 61st UB Anniversary. This activity was facilitated by the Directorate of Administration and Academic Services at Brawijaya University.

“The topic of Going Digital is the spirit that is currently being put forward by UB to improve the quality and quantity of the Tri Dharma in the university environment,” said UB Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Imam Santoso, MP., who represented the Rector opened the event.

He hopes that this agenda can become an event that gathers various perspectives and thoughts regarding current digital technology developments, especially in strengthening community resilience.

Over 2 days, this hybrid event was attended by more than 100 participants who attended directly at the location. The enthusiasm of the participants was seen from the 116 registered scientific articles and was also enlivened by the signing session of several MoUs (Memorandum of Understanding) and MoA (Memorandum of Agreement) with several institutions such as the Instituto Politécnico de Betano (IPB) Timor Leste, and Lentera Constitution and Justice (LKK ).

This meeting invited Dr. Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, represented by Prof. Chandra Fajri Ananda, SE., MSC., Ph.D, special staff to the Minister of Finance for fiscal affairs as the main speaker. The main session was also attended by Prof. Ahmad Erani Yustika SE., MSc., Ph.D., Chief of Staff of the Secretariat of the Vice President of Indonesia. Moreover, there were also speakers from Australia, Japan, Thailand, Serbia and the Philippines as guest speakers.

In his presentation, Prof. Chandra said that the current spirit of digitalization is in line with Indonesia’s spirit of strengthening the spirit for recovery-rebuilding, digital economy and sustainability.

Prof. Erani conveyed the importance of developing technological digitalization in strengthening the economy of rural areas. This can accelerate improvements in the quality of human resources in rural areas as well as the quantity of supporting infrastructure.
